ABOUT The Dukeries Community Band

The Dukeries Community Band has been serving the local community for nearly 40 years. Formed in 1984 by Malcolm Bevan to enable ex-students of the Dukeries College (now The Dukeries Academy) to still enjoy music beyond their school days. As time has progressed and the band continued to prosper it has enabled the band to support musicians of all abilities from both the academy and the wider surrounding area.

Today's band members come from all walks of life; teachers; librarians; self-employed; nurses; plumbers; administrators to name but a few. The one thing we have in common is that we like to play music as part of a group.

Dukeries Community Band is made up of woodwind, brass and percussion instruments- clarinets, flutes, saxophones, trumpets, trombones etc. We play a variety of musical styles from classical through to military band, film and show music to pieces based on the music of contemporary groups and singers such as the Beatles and Robbie Williams.

The band is open to anyone to join, and is ideal for people of all ages, abilities and to those who may not have played their instrument in some time to join due to its friendly and supportive atmosphere.

The band meets weekly during term time on a Tuesday evening from 7pm to 9pm in the Dukeries Academy Concert Hall, please complete the enquiries form on our Contact us page for more details.
